the red mangrove are equally strange; arching out from the trunk and
from each
other, and creating an underwater world of twisted tunnels. Little aquatic
animals
like fish, crabs and clams are crazy about these tangly
prop roots because they
make a safe home to hide from predators. Even animals like raccoons spend
some
time here. White mangroves are the shortest of the three, and grow more
inland.
Unlike other mangroves, you won’t see their roots. White mangrove leaves
have a
special way of getting rid of too much salt. They sound pretty super,
don’t they!

ANIMALS WHO LIVE IN OR

There are many ways for you to get to see and learn about the creatures
that like
the Indian River Lagoon. Check out the numerous environmental attractions

1. BROWN PELICANS
are the most wonderful
birds to watch. We can see
them swooping, cleaning their feathers on the end of a pier, or just
sunning
