Fun in the Sun
Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area C2. and D2.
This scenic park offers
unlimited recreational and educational activities for the
entire family. This includes boating, swimming, surfing, snorkeling and
scuba
diving. You can even catch your dinner by fishing, shrimping and clamming.
The park has a north and south side, divided by a tall bridge that
offers a great view. The north side has a shallow tidal pool and
protected beach, perfect for even the youngest swimmers. Nearby there is
a convenient concession stand for that drink and snack attack. The
fishing is excellent here for many kinds of fish including flounder,
bluefish and Spanish mackerel. Get your supplies at the bait and tackle
shop, and head for the new fishing jetty. This part of the Inlet is
famous for surfing, so you might get to watch some serious wave-riding.
The south side of the park has pavilions; a boat ramp and a fishing
museum (see ‘FUN FOR YOUR BRAIN’). There are also 51 camping sites to
choose from, if you just can’t leave this beautiful place with its
pristine wildlife and refreshing ocean breezes.

Treasure Shores Park D2.
This is a narrow beach
with soft tan sand. A woodsy picnic area on the other side of the
parking lot has a small playground with a two-story red climbing ‘boat’,
and a little tower with scoops attached to pulleys, so you can bring the
sand up to the top.

Golden Sands Beach Park D2.
To get to this beach,
you stroll along a long up-and-down zigzag boardwalk over the dunes.
We’ve found it to be a place for finding shells, especially in the
morning. Grills and covered picnic tables are near a large
creamy-colored playground climbing structure with tunnels, slides and
more. Wheelchair and stroller access to the beach.

Wabasso Beach Park D2.
Very popular with local
families, this is a good swimming beach. You can find a covered sitting
area on the boardwalk, and covered tables, too. Boppy’s Market is the
name of a nearby store for beachgoers with interesting deli foods,
salads, chips and drinks you can buy for a last-minute picnic.
